US and Britain use G7 as ‘useful idiots’ – Russian Foreign Ministry

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said that Washington and London are using the G7 allies as “useful idiots” to prolong the anti-Russian course. The diplomat’s commentary was published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Maria Zakharova recalled that the G7, which unites “states hostile to the Russian Federation”, had issued another politicised and biased communiqué, deliberately timing it to coincide with the second anniversary of the start of Russia’s special military operation (SMO). The provisions of this document are permeated with Russophobia and filled with slander.

According to the diplomat, a cursory glance at the text of the statement is enough to understand the long-term and profound nature of anti-Russian sentiments in the G7 circle.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman noted that the G7 had been turned by the efforts of the Anglo-Saxons, first and foremost, into a kind of headquarters for the West’s struggle against Russia and other independent States seeking to develop legitimate ties with each other.

“At the same time, Washington and London actually use representatives of Berlin, Tokyo, Paris and Rome as “useful idiots” to provide support for their anti-Russian line,” Maria Zakharova stated.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova mentioned that the negative statements of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the interview of American journalist Tucker Carlson with Russian President Vladimir Putin speak about the full accountability of Berlin and London to the “overseas ally”.
