During consultations in Moscow with his Russian counterpart Andrey Rudenko, Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Sun Weidong has expressed Beijing’s firm support ahead of the upcoming Russian presidential election. This is stated in a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The Chinese side expressed its firm support for Russian Federation in the context of the upcoming presidential election as well as our country’s current BRICS chairmanship”, the diplomatic department said.
The sides also reaffirmed their willingness to further co-operation and foreign policy co-ordination in the interests of strengthening regional and global security and stability.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said that Chinese President Xi Jinping wished Vladimir Putin a successful campaign for the Russian presidential election.
