CIS Secretary General called the US criticism of the elections in Belarus complete nonsense

The US State Department’s assessment of the 25 February elections in Belarus is complete nonsense. This opinion was expressed by CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev.

He said he had familiarised himself with the US State Department’s statement about the allegedly fictitious and conducted “in an atmosphere of fear” and without observance of democratic procedures elections in the republic.

“This is complete nonsense,” Lebedev was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

Earlier it was reported that the turnout at the parliamentary and local elections in Belarus was almost 73%.
