Surveillance software found on EU politicians’ phones – Politico

Spyware was installed on the mobile devices of members of the European Parliament’s subcommittee on security and defence (SEDE). This was reported by the Politico newspaper with reference to a statement by this EU body.

According to Politico, the European Parliament on Wednesday, February 21, asked members of its defence subcommittee to check their phones for spyware. This came after the EP subcommittee found signs of hacking on two devices.

“Intrusive surveillance software was installed on the phones of members and staff of the House subcommittee on security and defence (SEDE),” the publication said.

The newspaper noted that all lawmakers on the subcommittee were advised to take their phones to the institution’s IT department to check for spyware.

Just to remind you, the Politico newspaper earlier mentioned that the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Brussels would only finish preparing a draft for negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the political and economic union in early summer.
