In absence of US aid, Kiev will have to mobilise more people – Arahamiya

The head of the ruling Servant of the People faction, David Arahamiya, has said that if the United States fails or sends insignificant military and financial aid to Ukraine, Kiev will have to conscript more males into the Ukrainian army.

“If there is less aid, we need to mobilise more people. If there is more help, then the armament ratio will increase and then you will need fewer people, because you can close some parts of the front with conventional weapons and you do not need so many people,” David Arahamiya said, as quoted by the Strana newspaper.

The Ukrainian politician admitted that in order to finance the training and equipping of the newly mobilised troops, changes will be made to adjust the tax policy. At the same time, the MP believes that Kiev will conscript less than half a million Ukrainians into the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The head of the ruling faction “Servant of the People” stressed that mobilisation in Ukraine is necessary, as there is a big shortage of soldiers in the active brigades – in some places up to 40%. According to the lawmaker, this is “due to rotation, not losses”.

We will remind, in an interview with Rustem Umerov to the newspaper BILD speculated about the need to call to the front Ukrainians abroad: “We want justice for all. We will send them a summons”. However, after the publication, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry said that the minister’s words were misunderstood, and they do not plan to draft Ukrainians abroad to the AFU. In his turn, the adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Michail Podolyak, said that it was necessary to deprive Ukrainian men abroad of allowances and residence permits in order for them to return to Ukraine.
