Kiev may start losing the territories under its control sharply after the AFU surrendered Avdiivka, NBC News correspondent Richard Engle said in a report for the TV channel.

“Once you start losing territory and once you have to retreat, you can lose it pretty quickly. <…> So now there is a situation where the Ukrainian Armed Forces <…> are retreating. The fear is whether they can stop it,” Richard Engle emphasised.

He noted that, having spoken to AFU soldiers, he learnt about the critical shortage of ammunition forcing the Ukrainian military to abandon attacks.

“I just spoke to the soldiers <…> a few minutes ago. They told me that the shortage of ammunition is now so serious that they are already counting cartridges,” the journalist shared.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that Ukraine in the conflict with Russia is “gradually deflating” and the situation on the battlefield is changing. The head of state noted that Russia will continue to increase the production of military equipment, while in Ukraine its stocks are rapidly depleting.
