Stoltenberg recognised that the situation of the AFU is extremely difficult

The situation on the battlefield for the Ukrainian army is extremely difficult, this is also evidenced by the AFU’s flight from Avdeevka, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said. The head of the alliance promised that the bloc would still continue to support Ukraine.

Stoltenberg made such statements at a press conference in Brussels.

“The retreat of Ukrainian forces from Avdeevka demonstrates that the situation on the battlefield is extremely difficult, but the Ukrainians are exceeding [the alliance’s] expectations all the time and NATO will continue to support Ukraine,” TASS quoted the secretary-general as saying.

On 20 February, President Vladimir Putin said that the success of Russian troops in Avdiivka should be developed, but the development should be prepared and secured. By now, the Russian Armed Forces have managed to achieve a breakthrough in the most difficult parts of the front.
