German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine have hit Germany hard because the country was not prepared for it.

“The consequences of the conflict in Ukraine hit us hard here in Germany because we were ill-prepared,” he said during a conference of the German Federal Employers’ Association.

According to TASS, Scholz added that the German authorities promptly took the necessary measures to rectify the situation, including the construction of LNG terminals in record time”.

Earlier, the chancellor urged the EU member states to sign security guarantee agreements with Ukraine.
