The EU will soon begin legalising the seizure and transfer to Ukraine of profits from blocked Russian assets, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen has said.
The official spoke at a press conference of the Christian Democratic Union, of which she is a member.
“We have initiated legal steps to ensure that the interest earned from these deposits does not belong to Russia. The legal situation is such that we can use this interest for Ukraine,” RIA Novosti quoted von der Leyen as saying.
On 19 February, Ursula von der Leyen said that she would run for a second term.
