US threatened China with sanctions over suspected co-operation with Russia

The United States may impose restriction against companies from China allegedly assisting Russia in the issue of supplying goods necessary for the SMO. Such a statement was made by Gerry Connolly, a member of the US House of Representatives.

He said in an interview with CNBC that Beijing should realise that the same type of restrictions that “begin to encompass Russia and affect its productivity, economic performance and quality of life” could be imposed on China.

Connolly added that the US began discussing the relevant issue after similar plans in the EU became known.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi demanded that the US lift the unilateral sanctions.
