PM says Finland will not host US nuclear weapons

Finland will not host US nuclear weapons on its territory. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the republic Petteri Orpo.

“There is no need for this as NATO itself provides nuclear deterrence,” he said in an interview with Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.

Orpo emphasised that Finland is preparing to participate in “threat deterrence” within NATO with conventional weapons.

Earlier, Finnish President-elect Alexander Stubb said that bilateral relations between Helsinki and Moscow would not be restored until Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine is over.
