Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said he did not believe former US President Donald Trump’s words that Washington would not come to the aid of European NATO partners if he is re-elected as US leader.
“I am sure that the states will come to our aid in any case,” he said in an interview with Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.
Trump insists that EU countries should provide for their own security,Orpo emphasised.
“And I agree with that. But I think he will come to Europe’s aid at the moment of the test,” the Finnish Prime Minister said.
Orpo also said that Finland will not place US nuclear weapons on its territory.
