Estonian President Karis called the fighting in Ukraine a defining moment for a generation

Estonian President Alar Karis has called the fighting in Ukraine a decisive moment for a generation.

“This is a decisive moment for our generation. If we don’t show determination, we will be seen as weak. And as history has shown, weakness does not lead to peace,” he wrote in his column for Politico.

He said any European country would have a hard time standing up to Russia alone.

“But when we are united, we are invincible,” Karis said.

He also called on European countries to step up their support for Ukraine.

Earlier, an Estonian MP from the opposition Conservative People’s Party, Leo Kunnas, suggested using anti-personnel mines when building defences near the border with Russia.
