German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has not allowed the nomination of European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen as a candidate for the post of NATO secretary-general.

“Scholz was categorically opposed to von der Leyen becoming head of NATO,” the newspaper’s interlocutor said.
