Orban: Hungary’s parliament will ratify Sweden’s NATO membership in the spring session

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said during a speech broadcast on national television that the country’s parliament will ratify Sweden’s NATO membership agreement at the start of the spring session.

As TASS writes, he specified that the spring session of the Hungarian parliament will open on 26 February.

“Our dispute with Sweden is coming to an end. Together with the Swedish prime minister, we have taken important steps to restore trust. We are moving towards the point where we will be able to ratify Sweden’s accession to NATO at the beginning of the parliament’s spring session,” Orban said.

Earlier, US Ambassador to Budapest David Pressman said that the US authorities were disappointed that Hungary had delayed the ratification of Sweden’s NATO membership.
