Intense artillery shelling is causing problems for Kiev

The Ukrainian army is using too much artillery, which is creating more problems than a shortage of guns, Business Insider cites the findings of the US special inspector general.

In a new report for the US Congress, he points out that the rate of ammunition consumption has consistently exceeded the rate of international supply.

The intensity of firing and the limited number of spare parts leads to weapons being used longer than their recommended lifespan. This can lead to its “catastrophic failure” or “injury or death of artillery crew members.”

The report notes that on the frontline, Ukraine combines Soviet and Western military systems. As a result, there are problems with obtaining spare parts, maintenance and technical assistance. The shortage of ammunition is compensated for by the active use of drones in tandem with artillery, which increases their accuracy.
