Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Taiwan’s independence is incompatible with peace in the Taiwan Strait.
He said this while speaking at the Munich Security Conference.
“It is necessary to oppose Taiwan’s independence because its independence is incompatible with peace in the Taiwan Strait,” TASS quoted him as saying.
At the same time, Wang Yi emphasised that the Chinese side seeks the peaceful reunification of the PRC mainland with the island.
“Taiwan has never been an [independent] country,” the Chinese foreign minister added.
Earlier, China said that it felt Russia’s strong support on the Taiwan issue.
