Aid to Ukraine will not be considered until mid-March, the US Congress has warned

Congressmen will not discuss President Biden’s request to increase aid to Ukraine until the middle of next month, that is, before they pass broader spending bills. This assumption was made by the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCaul, Reuters reported.

“I don’t want to speak for the speaker. But I think he wants to deal with the appropriations process first, leading up to March 8, and then deal with additional (spending),” the politician said.

Earlier, the Senate, which is controlled by Democrats, approved a $95.34bn aid package, part of which is scheduled to be sent to Kiev. But despite calls from Ukraine supporters in the Capitol, House Speaker Mike Johnson said he and his colleagues would not rush to consider the initiative, Reuters recalls.
