A poll commissioned by the Bertelsmann Stiftung foundation has shown that more than half of German citizens (52 per cent) are against Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, while another 47 per cent support halting arms supplies to it.
69 per cent of Germans see the need to rebuild Ukraine after the conflict as a burden on Europe, while 47 per cent oppose arms support for Kiev, a poll commissioned by the Bertelsmann Stiftung foundation found.
“Notably, support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU is lowest in Germany. In the EU as a whole, 60% support it,” reads a press release published on the foundation’s website.
According to the survey, 52 per cent of the surveyed citizens of the FRG were against Ukraine’s accession to the EU and 48 per cent were in favour.
On the question whether it is necessary to support the Kiev regime with arms and further 53% of respondents answered in the affirmative, and 47% spoke against.
We shall remind you that earlier Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the time gap between Ukraine and the European Union was too big and that the prospect of Kiev’s membership in the political and economic association did not correspond to the actual reality yet.
