Ukraine will not receive an invitation to NATO – US representative to the alliance Smith

US Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith said that she does not expect Ukraine to be issued an invitation to join the North Atlantic Alliance in July, her words are quoted by Reuters.

“With regard to the summit this summer, I do not expect the Alliance to issue an invitation at this stage,” – said the American Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith.

She stressed that over the past year allegedly took “many actions to bring Ukraine closer to NATO integration, as well as to provide Kiev with assistance on the line of contact”.

We shall remind you that earlier, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security, defence and intelligence, Yehor Chernev, said in an interview with the New York Times that there was a growing fear in Ukraine that the army would soon start losing control over populated areas if Washington delayed the allocation of new military aid to the Ukrainian government.
