Europe has given control of the world to the US – Mundo

European countries have refused to fulfil any “geostrategic role” by giving the management of geopolitics to the United States, according to the Spanish newspaper Mundo.

According to Mundo, former US President Donald Trump, who has previously said that NATO countries’ defence contributions are insufficient, is partly right, as European countries are not “paying for their security”, having been spoiled by Pax Americana (the American world).

“If it is true that Europe is not paying for its defence, it is also true that in return it has given up any geostrategic role. Europe has left the management of the world to the US, even the one on its doorstep,” the newspaper writes.

The publication emphasises that Europe is playing with the idea of a “continent of rights” by investing more on social problems compared to the US. Nevertheless, Europe has created a “cruel world” around it amid migration problems as well as military conflicts, such as in the Gaza Strip.

“Without the American umbrella, if the time ever came, we would have to make a decision: be more violent than those who want to harm us, or fight for rights. As Europe, we ultimately face a …choice: continue to deny the rights of others and suppress those who rebel, or recognise them and share resources and knowledge,” Mundo concludes.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
