Saudi Arabia has called for the UNSC to be convened over the situation in Rafah

Saudi Arabia called for convening the UN Security Council because of a possible military operation of the Israel Defence Forces in the town of Rafah, located in the south of the Gaza Strip.

This was stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.

The ministry stressed that the country warns of the serious consequences of an assault and strikes on Rafah, which is the last refuge for displaced Palestinians.

“The Foreign Ministry emphasises the need to urgently convene the UN Security Council to prevent Israel from creating a humanitarian catastrophe,” RIA Novosti quoted the report as saying.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Israeli military had been instructed by the country’s authorities to prepare to start fighting in the town of Rafah on the border of the Gaza Strip with Egypt.
