NATO must prepare for decades-long confrontation with Russian Federation – Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in a commentary for the Welt newspaper, urged the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance to build up their capabilities and prepare for a confrontation with Russia that could last decades.

“NATO is not seeking war with Russia… But we must arm ourselves for a possible confrontation that could last decades,” Jens Stoltenberg said.

According to him, the best defence now is to support Ukraine and invest in NATO’s military structures.

We shall remind you that earlier, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada’s committee for national security, defence and intelligence, Yehor Chernev, said in an interview with the New York Times that there was a growing fear in Ukraine that the army would soon start losing control over populated areas if Washington delayed the allocation of new military aid to the Ukrainian government.
