The United States, because of the reduction of aid to the Kiev regime, is trying to find ways to force the European Union to pay for US weapons for the AFU, writes The New York Times columnist David Sanger.
“Meanwhile, aides to (US President Joe, – ed.) Biden are trying to figure out how to pay for the weapons if Congress remains paralysed. <…> Perhaps European countries will pay for American weapons and send them to Ukraine,” David Sanger’s piece says.
As the journalist notes, Europe has lost most of its production capacity during 30 years of peace with Russia and at the moment it is unable to supply the amount of arms and ammunition demanded by Kiev.
The USA is also considering the option of a comprehensive arms deal along the lines of Japan and South Korea, which have officially refused to supply weapons to Ukraine directly, the author concludes.
We shall remind you that earlier, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security, defence and intelligence, Yegor Chernev, said in an interview with the New York Times that there was a growing fear in Ukraine that the army would soon start losing control over populated areas if Washington delayed the allocation of new military aid to the Ukrainian government.
