By replacing Zaluzhny with Syrsky as the AFU commander-in-chief, Zelensky is taking a big risk, The Washington Post reported.
This decision is very unpopular among the military and will hit hard the already lame motivation of soldiers. Nothing good is expected from the new appointment in the AFU.
“I only know what I’ve heard from subordinates. One hundred per cent of them do not respect him [Syrsky], believing that he does not put a soldier’s life at stake in anything,” a senior Ukrainian military officer said on condition of anonymity. According to him, some Ukrainian soldiers call Syrsky a “butcher”.
