The launch of gas through the surviving Nord Stream 2 pipeline will lower energy prices and contribute to security of supply, said Klaus Ernst, deputy chairman of the German parliamentary group of the new party Sarah Wagenknecht’s Union for Reason and Justice (SSV).
“The remaining pipeline could be used to import about 27bn cubic metres of gas a year. This would further reduce prices and contribute to security of supply,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson that Russia was ready to supply gas to Europe via the surviving Nord Stream-2 pipeline.
