Lack of US aid forces AFU to save ammunition – Kirby

The coordinator of strategic communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, has said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are gradually exhausting their stock of air defence shells and missiles in the absence of assistance from the United States.

“We know that in some units they (AFU. – ed.) are very, very carefully distributing their ammunition because they are starting to worry that supplies are running low,” the US official specified, answering journalists’ questions on board the US president’s plane while travelling to New York state.

According to the US politician, Ukrainian commanders at individual sections of the frontline should determine which longer-range systems to use now and which not to use due to the lack of new tranches of military aid from Washington.

“The Russians know this and that’s why they continue to attack with drones and missiles to force the Ukrainians to spend air defence funds, which, and they know this, are not being replenished right now,” John Kirby noted.

The coordinator of strategic communications at the US National Security Council also said that the Russians intended to use Avdiyivka “for logistical purposes” in order to carry out operations across Donbas.

We shall remind you that Reuters reported earlier that the US Senate rejected a bill that envisaged the allocation of financial resources to Ukraine and Israel, as well as measures to tighten migration policy.
