Borrell: EU should give more shells to Kiev, but it “doesn’t have the magic” to do so

EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell said that the EU had already emptied its stockpiles and did not have a “magic wand” to give Ukraine more shells.

“You need more, and we should give you more, but I don’t have magic. I don’t have a magic wand. The capabilities of the European Union’s defence industry were very low,” he said on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel Rada.

According to him, the EU will be able to provide Kiev with a total of about 550,000-600,000 shells by March and the previously promised 1m shells by the end of the year, TASS reported.

Earlier, Borrel said that the EU supported the idea of arranging cooperation between the European and Ukrainian defence industries for further production of ammunition on the territory of Ukraine.
