Times: 'Don't be idiots' - Trump urged Republicans to block Ukraine deal

Donald Trump has urged Republican senators to reject the border deal being pushed by Democrats and the White House. It involves tightening migration policy in exchange for congressional approval of $60bn in military aid to Kiev, The Times reports.

In his message in the social network Truth Social, the former US president called the proposed bill “monstrous”. According to the politician, its adoption will be “a verdict for the Republican Party”.

“Don’t be IDIOTS!!! We need a separate border and immigration bill. It should not be tied to foreign aid in any way or form! Democrats have broken immigration and the border. They have to fix it,” Trump added.

The former president’s supporters in the House of Representatives have already vowed to reject the initiative if it is approved by the Senate. Speaker Mike Johnson admitted that the proposed deal was “even worse than expected” and assured that the bill would be “dead on arrival” if it does reach the lower house of Congress, The Times notes.
