The European Union will not yet include a ban on aluminium imports from Russia in new anti-Russian sanctions due to opposition from a number of industrialised countries.

Politico: EU will not yet include a ban on aluminium imports in sanctions against Russia

About it writes the newspaper Politico with reference to sources.

According to the newspaper, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland are in favour of imposing sanctions on Russian aluminium.

At the same time, as the newspaper’s interlocutors told the newspaper, the EU is unlikely to decide on a complete ban on imports of aluminium from Russia, as there is a high probability that the association “will face opposition from industrial countries such as Italy, which are resisting measures that could lead to higher prices”.

It is specified that the EU still imports 9% of Russian aluminium.

Earlier Bloomberg reported that the new EU sanctions will affect dozens of individuals and companies.
