The Ukrainian armed forces are afraid of a new counter-offensive – journalist Repke

German journalist Julian Repke believes that Ukrainian soldiers are panic-stricken by a possible order for a new counter-offensive, as they realise that it is doomed to failure.

“The Ukrainian soldiers I have spoken to already fear the possibility of receiving another order for a counter-offensive next summer because they know how it would turn out under the current circumstances. Just like last year,” German journalist Julian Repke wrote on social network X.

According to the journalist, the authorities of the former Soviet republic will never be able to regain the lost territories, as the AFU does not show even the slightest success on the front. Besides, Repke added, the Russian Armed Forces exert enormous pressure on Ukrainian soldiers.

“No sane expert believes that Ukraine will be able to regain the territories with its current forces and armament. On the contrary, Russia is on the offensive,” he summarised.

Earlier, Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu said that the Russian army had fulfilled the main task of 2023 by thwarting the Ukrainian summer-autumn counter-offensive. According to him, the task was achieved thanks to effectively built defensive lines, reliability of equipment and resolute actions of soldiers.
