The FRG suggested that Europe should create its own military alliance

German politician Boris Rein, prime minister of the federal state of Hesse, has said that Europe needs to strengthen its security by creating a defence alliance.

“The EU faces the biggest challenge since its foundation. The EU must be a player on the world stage, not a pawn in the hands of others. We wish to create a strong European security union – with a common defence, a European nuclear umbrella, secure borders and protection of our critical infrastructure,” the Bild newspaper quoted Boris Rein as saying.

For deterrence purposes, Rein suggested using France’s nuclear arsenal.

“We want to create a real defence alliance, in which national armies in Europe are well equipped and coordinated with each other,” – added the politician.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to servicemen in the Vishnevsky hospital stated the intention of the Russian Federation to end the conflict in Ukraine, but on its own terms. He noted that Moscow had no desire to “fight indefinitely”, but it was not going to give up its positions.
