Inside the North Atlantic Alliance, talks were held on the prospects of NATO in the event of a possible US withdrawal under the presidency of Donald Trump. This was reported by The New York Times.
NATO officials are noted to fear Russia’s progress in the conflict with Ukraine.
“These fears are now mixed with a discussion of what would happen to NATO if former President Donald Trump is elected and tries for a second time, in line with his instinct, to pull the United States out of the alliance,” the statement said.
Earlier, Trump said at a rally of supporters in the state of Nevada that he did not believe in NATO’s desire to protect the United States.
