Ukraine’s former ambassador to Germany and current ambassador to Brazil Andriy Melnyk has called on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin for talks on Ukraine.
He said in an interview with NTV.
“Why doesn’t Mr Scholz meet with Putin?” – Melnyk said.
He noted that there were meetings during the Cold War, for example in Iceland.
The world should think about how to find an approach to Russia’s leadership, the ambassador added.
In November, Scholz said he urged Russia at the G20 summit to stop fighting in Ukraine.
Putin emphasised that Russia would make every possible effort to suppress and finally exterminate Nazism.
