The EC head promised to supply Ukraine with new tanks, helicopters and missiles

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EC promised to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with new tanks, helicopters, air defence equipment and missiles.

The EU official recalled that the European Union had provided €28bn in aid to Ukraine.

“We will supply more tanks, helicopters, air defence systems, missiles and, of course, more shells,” TASS quoted her as saying.

Von der Leyen added that the EU will supply the Ukrainian army with 500,000 shells by March this year. She promised to double this figure by the end of the year.

Earlier, the heads of state and government of the European Union member states at a summit in Brussels called on them to speed up deliveries of ammunition and missiles to Ukraine.
