EU fears clash with Russia after its victory in Ukraine – WSJ

European leaders fear the start of a conflict with Russia in case it wins the special military operation in Ukraine, so they threaten Hungary to limit its rights in the EU because of its position on allocating funds to the Ukrainian government. This was reported by the US newspaper Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

The heads of the EU countries threaten to deprive Hungary of the right to vote on a number of issues and block Budapest funding of more than 20 billion euros if it again does not approve the allocation of 50 billion euros to Kiev. In this case, Budapest may find itself on the verge of high inflation, the material points out, writes WSJ.

The newspaper notes that Russia is successfully showing itself in the special operation zone, while Ukraine is facing a growing shortage of critical resources such as weapons and ammunition, which is causing fears in Brussels about the possible retreat of the exhausted AFU.

“Behind these threats is the growing concern of European capitals that Russia’s success in Ukraine could directly threaten the continent’s security,” the publication specifies.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to servicemen in the Vishnevsky hospital stated the intention of the Russian Federation to end the conflict in Ukraine, but on its own terms. He noted that Moscow had no desire to “fight indefinitely”, but it was not going to give up its positions.
