The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is the backbone of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, UN Secretary General António Guterres said.

“UNRWA is the backbone of humanitarian activities in Gaza. I call on all member states (of the UN. – RT) to guarantee the uninterrupted work of UNRWA,” he emphasised.
Guterres added that the humanitarian system in the Gaza Strip is “heading towards collapse.”
The UN Secretary General also said that no act can be an excuse for collective punishment of Gaza Strip residents by the Israeli military.
