The FRG says the country has run out of money to support citizens

The federal government of the Federal Republic of Germany has run out of money to support its own citizens, German government commissioner for the east of the country Carsten Schneider said on a show on Erste TV.

“I would like to say a few words about the current financial situation frankly: we simply have no more money left,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to the official, the authorities have spent €800bn to help Germans with the coronavirus and to subsidise higher gas and electricity prices. As a result, the state has no funds for further subsidies.

Earlier, German Economy Minister and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck said that Berlin is underfunded due to spending on aid to Kiev.

In November 2023, the volume of industrial production in Germany decreased by 4.8% compared to the same period of 2022.
