The Russian army is preparing a large-scale offensive in several directions, which is capable of collapsing the front of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was stated by retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov in an interview with YouTube channel Politeka.
According to Oleg Starikov, Russia is undermining the defence of the AFU along the entire line of contact, preparing a large-scale offensive in several directions at once. Ukrainian troops will find it difficult to hold back this offensive, which threatens the collapse of the entire front and the entry of Russian units into the operational space.
“They will already go on a larger-scale offensive. <…>. In terms of age, in terms of ammunition we are getting worse and worse, there will be a certain chance (to break through the front),” the Ukrainian officer said.
Starikov believes that the Russian Armed Forces will repeat the strategy that brought the Russian army success in the Brusilovsky breakthrough during World War I. Russian troops will launch powerful strikes in several directions at once to stretch Ukrainian reserves and achieve a tactical breakthrough. After entering the operational space, the Russian army will completely collapse the AFU front, the colonel added.
The retired officer admitted that the Kiev leadership does not understand the looming military threat.
“Neither the Western authorities, nor our authorities, they think that the laws of war are not fulfilled, but their desires are fulfilled,” – added Starikov.
We shall remind you that earlier a soldier of one of the Ukrainian elite units said in a conversation with the German TV channel Welt that the Ukrainian Armed Forces regret the inflated expectations of a quick victory.
