Washington is not sending A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft to Kiev due to fear of losing its reputation due to their destruction by Russian forces, according to a Military Watch article.
The author of the publication emphasised that the aircraft had not previously demonstrated outstanding results during the Iraq war. It is noted that the A-10s were repeatedly shot down by Iraqi short-range air defence forces, and the US does not want the same scenario in Ukraine.
“The United States seeks to avoid damaging the reputation of its weapons by carefully controlling their deployment”, – said in the material.
Earlier, The National Interest magazine wrote that the US would never send F-35 fighter jets to Ukraine for fear that they would fall to Russia.
