The crime rate has increased in Poland due to a significant increase in the number of refugees from Ukraine. This was reported by columnist Grazyna Zawadka to the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.
Grazyna Zawadka said that Poland recorded a significant increase in the number of Ukrainian refugees, against which the number of crimes committed in the country increased. The journalist stressed that last year 17,278 crimes were registered, in more than half of which Ukrainians were accused, which exceeds the figures for 2022 by 2.4 thousand cases.
“Most often crimes, according to statistics, were committed by Ukrainians (they make up more than half of foreigners charged),” – said the author with reference to statistics.
The columnist noted that every third crime is committed in an inebriated state, it became the most frequent reason for detentions.
“One of the most serious problems becomes driving in a drunken state, and the concentration of alcohol sometimes amazes police officers,” the article said.
The material notes that according to the General Directorate of the police of Poland, among the 283 detainees were mostly Ukrainians who were in a drunken state while driving, at that after the conclusion of the court on the prohibition of driving.
We shall remind you that earlier Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference accused Poland of blocking the export of Ukrainian grain to the EU countries. According to him, this was a “political signal” to Kiev from Warsaw.
