Blinken offered Greece financial aid in exchange for arms to Ukraine

United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has proposed to Greece that Athens sell or donate weapons to Kiev in exchange for possible financial allocations from the United States. This proposal is contained in a letter from the US diplomat to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the text of the document was distributed by the press service of the prime minister.

Anthony Blinken has said that the White House is offering Athens a kind of deal. The US diplomat noted that Washington provides Greece with $200 million and the Hellenic Republic sends or sells its own weapons to Ukraine.

“We remain interested in defence capabilities that Greece can transfer or sell to Ukraine. If these capabilities would be of interest to Ukraine and pending a U.S. government assessment of their status, we can explore the potential allocation of up to $200 million in additional FMF (foreign military financing. – ed.) funds for Greece,” Anthony Blinken said in a letter to the Greek Prime Minister.

The US Secretary of State notified the Greek Prime Minister that the State Department has agreed to the transfer of arms for approximately $ 8.6 billion and the likely sale of F-35 aircraft to Athens.

Earlier, retired German army colonel and military expert Wolfgang Richter expressed in an interview with Welt that the Russian army would destroy F-16 fighter jets if the West decided to supply them to Ukraine.
