Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russian Federation is going to continue expanding its Arctic fleet, as well as building new icebreakers and other vessels.
During his speech at the ceremony of the start of construction of the nuclear-powered icebreaker Leningrad, he noted that residents of the Arctic regions are waiting for powerful icebreakers and other high-ice-class vessels.
“And we will definitely consistently solve these tasks, expand our Arctic fleet, set new ambitious benchmarks,” Putin added.
Earlier, the president said that the nuclear-powered icebreaker Stalingrad will be laid down in Russia in 2025.
