A Russian Il-76 aircraft was hit in the Belgorod region by either a French air defence system or a US Patriot system, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with students participating in a special operation.
He stressed that the means of destruction seized from the crash site of the plane show that it was an air defence missile.
“Either they (Ukrainian military. – RT) have been badly taught, or they are badly taught themselves, or they are not able to manage such systems as they should. Most likely, these Patriot systems are American or European air defence systems, most likely French,” the president said
Putin added that a precise answer would be given in “a couple or three days”.
The missiles that shot down the plane with the AFU prisoners were launched from Ukrainian territory, the president stressed. The Investigative Committee claims that the anti-aircraft missiles were located in the village of Liptsy in Kharkiv Region.
