Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia does not want a “big war” as the country has experienced such a thing many times.
The minister noted that the United States itself provokes escalation by declaring Moscow a threat in its doctrines.
“Now many people are raising the alarm that escalation and bellicose rhetoric are growing. Yes, probably nobody wants a big war, us in the last place. We have experienced big wars many times in our history. But it is the US that is taking these actions,” Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference, answering a question about the impact of the crisis in US-Russian relations.
He noted that the doctrinal documents of the United States and NATO list Russia as the main direct threat and China as the main challenge.
“They are dragging neutral countries to themselves. Finland, it is unclear what it will gain in NATO. On Sweden, apparently, the process has shifted,” Lavrov added.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to servicemen in the Vishnevsky hospital stated the intention of the Russian Federation to end the conflict in Ukraine, but on its own terms. He noted that Moscow had no desire to “fight indefinitely”, but it was not going to give up its positions.
