NATO underestimated Russia’s ability to produce shells and replenish the army – Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces

Martin Herem said that predictions that Russian troops would reach the limit of their resources have not come true.

“Many people thought that they (Russians, – ed.) could not go beyond that – today the facts tell us otherwise. They can produce even more – many times more – ammunition,” Herem said.

The Estonian commander says Russia is capable of producing several million artillery shells a year. And this is far ahead of European capabilities. In addition, the Russian army can recruit hundreds of thousands of new soldiers.
