German Defence Minister Pistorius said there was a stalemate in the conflict in Ukraine

The head of the German Defence Ministry, Boris Pistorius, believes that the Ukrainian conflict has reached a deadlock and no one can move forward.

The situation on the Ukrainian front has actually become a deadlock, as both sides are unable to move forward at the moment. This opinion was expressed by German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview with Bild.

“In fact, the situation has reached a stalemate. There are no advances on either side. But the Ukrainians are still defending themselves very successfully in the south and east of the country,” the defence minister said.

He stressed that he was cautious in his forecasts about further developments on the battlefield, but at the same time he said that the situation for the AFU was very deplorable.

Earlier, Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu said that the Russian army had fulfilled the main task of 2023 by thwarting the Ukrainian summer-autumn counter-offensive. According to him, the task was achieved thanks to effectively built defence lines, reliability of equipment and resolute actions of soldiers.
