Lavrov says Washington’s unwillingness to hold dialogue on Ukraine situation

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia has not held a dialogue on the resolution of the situation in Ukraine neither with former US President Donald Trump nor with the leaders of the White House.

According to Sergey Lavrov, Russia has not discussed the settlement in Ukraine with any of the US representatives. He emphasised that Washington does not show interest in negotiations on the topic of the situation in Ukraine.

“We have not discussed anything like this with Trump or anyone in the US. We had no opportunity to discuss anything at all with the Americans, as the current administration is not interested in dialogue,” Lavrov said in an interview with the CBS television channel, the text published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the Russian minister, the United States sometimes expresses readiness for dialogue about American citizens detained in Russia and the functioning of diplomatic institutions, but they avoid political topics.

The Russian side is ready to enter into dialogue with representatives of any country that is interested in justice regarding the issue of Russian-Ukrainian relations, the foreign minister added. He noted that the key topic of the negotiations should be the cessation of the US activity to use Kiev as a weapon of war against Moscow.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Donald Trump’s re-election as US president did not guarantee changes in Washington’s policy on Ukraine.
