Kosachev: Turkey misses chance to speak in the interests of humanity, not NATO

Vice-speaker of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said that by ratifying the protocol on Sweden’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance, Turkey is missing a chance to act in the interests of humanity, not NATO.

He expressed this opinion in Telegram.

As the politician noted, NATO is the main source of instability in the world, as well as the main generator of threats.

Besides, Kosachev added, the alliance has destroyed the principle of indivisibility of security by its existence.

He expressed regret over Ankara’s decision to ratify the protocol on Sweden’s accession to NATO.

“The historic chance for Turkey to act in the interests of all mankind, not just a single bloc, will also be missed,” the report said.

On 23 January, Turkey’s Grand National Assembly approved a bill to ratify the protocol on Sweden’s NATO membership.
