The new package of EU sanctions against Russia is unlikely to include a ban on imports of Russian aluminium, despite a request from Poland and the Baltic states.

In addition, the EU may soften a number of existing restrictions, for example, against nuclear fuel and LNG, in order to gain support for a new package of sanctions from all countries of the community.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that proposals for a new package of sanctions against Russia are just a semblance of activity on the part of the European Union.
